Life With Dakotah is a blog about life with the newest addition to my family, an Alaskan Malamute named "Dakotah".
After searching online and through the American Kennel Club's breeders I (with some help from my boyfriend...ok a lot since he's funding this venture) we decided that an Alaskan Malamute would be the perfect addition to our family.
Currently we have a 3 year old long haired black cat named Maiden. She's an indoor kitty my boyfriend got while we were living in Washington state. She's wonderful and talkative and sweet.....and a little pudgy.
I love the outdoors and wanted a companion I could take with me on hikes, camping, snowy adventures, etc. My boyfriend decided he got enough outdoor exercise while in the military and wasn't so enthusiastic about me bugging him every second to go on another hike. Though he loves historical day trips and fishing....not so much hiking or snowboarding.
I've had a lot of experience with animals. And a ton with dogs and dog training. I have always admired the intelligent and steadfast spirit of the Alaskan Malamute and together my boyfriend and I decided we were ready to take on the challenge.
So now we have selected our puppy and are anxiously awaiting her arrival. She is flying in from Kentucky and we've already had to change the date once due to the high temperatures this summer. The new date is Friday, July 8 2011. Two days away!!! We are both so excited and have her collar, leashes, bowls, toys, food, treats and a ton of other stuff ready to go. Her crate is set up (though Maiden seems to think it is HER new crate) and hopefully we'll be picking her up Friday!
So hopefully Life with Dakotah will begin this Friday! We'll see!
